    The Right Attitude

     Of The Supervisor 17

    [1 Tim 3:1-7]

    / Anne's Faith Column

    / By Priscilla

    The overseer who

    governs the church needs

    the leadership, along with

    the religious personality

    that a Christian must

      possess.

    Looking at the scripture

    that tells us the supervisor's

    posture in the last days

     of suffering,

    we can find out that

    we have lack of leadership.

So it seems that we will

    have to correct the posture

      of our mind again.

    Then what do we have

to do in order to become

    overseers, first of all?

    The scripture says

     as below:

    1) If anyone sets his heart

    on being an overseer,

      he desires a noble task.

    2) Now the overseer

    must be above reproach,

    the husband of but

     one wife, temperate,

    self-controlled, respectable,

     hospitable, able to teach,

    3) not given to drunkenness,

    not violent but gentle, not

    quarrelsome, not a

    lover of money.

    4) He must manage

    his own family well and

     see that his children obey

     him with proper respect.

    5) He must not be

    a recent convert,

    or he may become

    conceited

    and fall under the

    same judgment as

    the devil.

    6) He must also have

    a good reputation

    with outsiders,

so that he will not fall

    into disgrace and into

    the devil's trap.

    (1 Tim 3 : 1-7)

    We are often said to

    follow the Lord

    as Christians,

    but there are many times

when we live a life of faith

    with secular thoughts.

    There were many times

    when we were always

    busy

    and could not

    take care of the

     garden of our heart.

    Whenever we were

    faced with the alternative

     of following God

    or the world,

    there were many times

    when the following

    scripture came to us :

    'He is a

    double-minded man,

    unstable in all he does'.

    (James 1 : 8)

    In addition, we did not

    hesitate to deviate

    from the way of the

    Lord with faith

    that was biased toward

    one side, or to easily

    condemn others

     with a deviant passion.

    Our bodies are busy

    without rest,

    but our inner souls

    are always engulfed

    by the world's waves,

as if they were left alone

    in a desolate field,

    becoming helpless,

    habitual,

    and weak and

    unfaithful Christians

    with only form

      and appearance.

    We sincerely confess

    to the good God

    that we have lived

    a disguised life with

     such contradictions

    and covering

    our faults.

      'Now, in such a state,

    do not wander anymore,

    repent and turn away

    from the path,'

    the Lord continues to say.

    Also, our inner beings

    shout out to our

    outer beings :

'You must get out of the

    many contradictions now,

    do not be deceived

    by reality,

    and become a faithful

    and sincere, devout

    Christian even inside.'

    No question about it.

    What else will there be

    except these alarming

    words?

    If we decide to start

    with the things that

    are closest to us,

    we should check each one

    that comes to mind,

    diligently cultivate buds

    inside of us,

    and take new care of

     the garden of our mind.

    Just as we work on

    removing hay and

     the soil into better

    soil by fertilizing,

    we must diligently

    ask the Holy Spirit to

    prepare ourselves

    spiritually

    to become overseers

    who are in harmony

    with God's heart.

    Prayer

    Lord!

    Guide us into the

    determination to

    obey the word!

    Let it be a new

    opportunity for

    each one of us!

    Amen!
