Rainbow Covenant 63
(I Establish My
Covenant With You)
[Gen 9:1-17]
/ Anne's Faith Column
/ By Priscilla
God blessed Noah,
made the covenant,
and gave a rainbow
in the clouds as a sign.
"So God created man
in his own image,
in the image of God
he created him;
male and female
he created them.
God blessed them
and said to them,
"Be fruitful and increase
in number; fill the earth
and subdue it.
Rule over the fish of the sea
and the birds of the air
and over every living creature
that moves on the ground."
(Gen 1:27-28)
The word of God
was a privilege given
to Noah after Adam,
and therefore man came
to subdue, and rule over
nature and every creature.
However,
on the other hand,
we can discover that
the relationship between
humans and nature is
not as peaceful as before.
In particular, all the peace,
which Adam and Eve
had enjoyed in the
Garden of Eden,
was no longer possible
for them.
Through the Genesis 9:2
of 'the fear and dread
of you will fall upon
all the living creatures
of the earth,' we can
guess that.
Unfortunately,
the relationship between
man and God was cut off
due to the sin of Adam,
the ancestor of mankind.
In addition, the relationship
between humans, and every
creature in nature was cut off,
resulting in an irreversible result.
However, God determined
to save mankind with
his endless love.
Because humans were
created in the image of God,
God gave Noah a new covenant
through the rainbow that
he would never again judge
the earth with water.
After that, seeing the
'rainbow' appearing
after the rain,
Noah and his family
must have been more
grateful for God's grace.
Since they were the ones
who directly experienced
the flood, they must
have feared God in
the vivid memory
and truly served God
as the Almighty.
You can clearly guess
that today's scripture
is a representative scene
of God's comfort
and goodness.
Above all, God wants
all of us to be born again
with a new heart and
to praise God in spirit,
bteaking freeing from
ourselves that were
children of darkness
in the past.
He wants us who have
received the grace of God,
who established the new
covenant, to obey God
and establish a new
relationship with the Lord.
Then, what kind of covenant
does God want to establish
with each of us at this time?
Also, what kind of life
should we live?
1) As children of light,
we must live brightly with
a positive perspective.
2) We must acknowledge
that we are weak human
beings, and we must
always ask the Holy Spirit
to help us live as children
of God who take on the role
of light and salt through
the help of the Lord.
Prayer
Lord!
Grant me a beautiful
covenant with me as
you did with Noah!
Amen.
