What Must I Do
To Inherit Eternal Life
Who Is My Neighbor 27
[Lk 10:25-37]
/ Ann's Faith column
/ By Priscilla
An expert in the law
tried to test the Lord
by asking the Lord,
"What must I do
to inherit eternal life?
And who is my neighbor?"
(Luke 10 : 25-37)
and the answer
Jesus gave to him is
of great significance.
The scriptures below
are about two
commandments
that we must obey,
as we know well.
"Love the Lord
your God with
all your heart
and with all your soul
and with all your mind
and with all your strength.
The second is this:
'Love your neighbor
as yourself.'
There is no commandment
greater than these."
(Mark 30-31)
The point of
today's message
is that we should not say
'I love God' or
'I love my neighbor'
only in words,
but should do it
in action.
'Who is my neighbor?'
'What must I do to
inherit eternal life?'
To these questions,
Jesus gave a sharp
and clear answer,
using a parable of a
'good Samaritan'.
(Nk 10 : 37)
Jesus told
the expert in the law,
"Go and do likewise."
He reminds us
through the parable
of a 'good Samaritan'
that it is
difficult to apply
and practice the
Word in real life,
even for people
with good faith.
At this moment,
we should check out
if we do our best
to love God
and also keep in mind
that if we truly love God,
we should take care of
our neighbors as well.
Even after
God created us
human beings,
his love for us cannot be
expressed in words,
how much interest
he has constantly given
to man who was created
in the image of God.
On the other hand,
if we love God and
want to truly inherit
eternal life,
we must be more
serious about dealing
with God's Word.
So what must we do?
1) Let's love God constantly.
Let's check out
our thoughts, views,
and perspectives
on God.
So let's not extinguish
the heart of loving God.
2) Let's broaden our
perspective of seeing
God and people.
Let's love God,
but at the same time
do not limit our view
of people, but broaden it.
If so, the point of
today's message is
who my closest
neighbor is.
My closest neighbor
is my family.
Let's strive to become
a person who lives like
a good Samaritan
and produces
beautiful fruit in our lives
by combining the work
entrusted to me with
a sense of duty,
responsibility, and
God's intervention
and loyalty.
Therefore,
let's look and hope
more in the Lord
so that we can live
with love, starting
from the family
and gradually to
the neighbors
around us.
In a life
that pleases God,
let's realize that
we should truly love
God and people.
So, let's treat my family
more affectionately
and warmly.
Instead of condemning
the other person's
mistakes, let's be
the one who
covers them.
Prayer
Lord!
I truly want to
follow the Lord,
serve God more than
anything else,
have mercy on people,
and put Lord's love
into ptactice according to
the word of the Lord.
Lord!
Please help me!
