Theme:
The names of those who
have received Jesus.
Scripture
[Acts 11 : 26]
The Scriptures give
three major meanings
to those who have
received God
and Jesus.
Now, we are going to
find out these things.
1. What are the people
who believe in God
and receive Jesus
Christ called?
Here are some things
the Scriptures grants
to those who have
received Jesus Christ.
1) Those who have
received Jesus are
called Christians.
(Acts 11 : 26)
The name Christian
is the one called by
non-believers
when the apostles
set up Paul and Banana
as apostles of the
Gentiles and sent
them to Antioch.
2)To those who have
received Jesus
and believed
in his name,
he gave the right
to become Children
of God,
that is, we are children
born not of natural
descent, nor of human
decision or a husband's
will, but born of God.
(John : 1-12,13)
3) We are called Saints.
All who receive Jesus
and call on the name
of Jesus in Jesus Christ,
that is, children who
are sanctified,
are called “saints”.
(1 Corin 1 : 2)
4) We are no longer
foreigners and aliens,
but fellow citizens
with God's people
and members of
God's household.
(Eph 2 : 19)
2. What, then, is
important for
Christians now?
Jesus is gentle and
humble in heart.
Therefore,
We Christians will be
willing to follow Jesus,
and we must practice
what he taught us,
that is, the following
six things.
1) If we take the yoke
on us that Jesus
gave us
and learn from the Lord,
we will find rest.
(Matt 11 : 29)
In other words,
if we take the
yoke of Jesus
on us
and live according to
what Jesus taught,
we will find rest
in our lives.
(Ex : 1)
'Mother cow
and her calf'
When the mother cow
and her calf are
plowing the field,
both of them are carrying
the T-shaped yoke
on their shoulders
and they are plowing
the field.
The young calf is also
next to the mother cow,
and they are feeling easy
and have brought about a
bond between the both.
The young calf is wearing
a yoke on his shoulder,
being happy and excited.
That's because
he thinks he is plowing
the field himself without
knowing at all
that actually
the mother cow is
carrying all the
burdens.
In this way,
please remember that
Jesus has become
the Lamb carrying
the burdens of
the world
and bearing the
burdens of all our lives.
We too know
the words of Jesus,
who said,
“Leave all your heavy
burdens with me,”
in our life of faith.
But, how many times
have we considered
ourselves as owners
and tried to take our
own burdens of life
with all our strength?
2) Let us fix our eyes on Jesus,
the author and perfecter
of our faith.
(Heb 12 : 2-3)
We, who were sinners,
rebelled against God's will,
but the Lord was willing
to obey the way of the cross
so that we might
not be tired and
discouraged.
Looking at the
eternal world,
the Lord silently endured
the suffering of the cross,
and finally fulfilled
the will of God.
Therefore, now
he has been given
the authority to sit down
at the right hand
of the throne of God.
3) If we serve Jesus,
we must follow him
and practice it,
as he want.
(John 12 : 26)
If we serve the Lord,
God will also value us, too.
So, let's keep
in mind that
"The owner of our lives
is Jesus, not us.”
Therefore, we must not
usurp Jesus' authority.
Don't forget that the
owner is Jesus Christ,
not us!
"Therefore,
I urge you, brothers,
in view of God's mercy,
to offer your bodies
as living sacrifices,
holy and
pleasing to God--
this is your spiritual
act of worship.
Do not conform
any longer to the
pattern of this world,
but be transformed
by the renewing
of your mind.
Then you will be able
to test and approve
what God's will is-
-his good, pleasing
and perfect will.
For by the grace
given me I say to
every one of you:
Do not think of yourself
more highly than
you ought, but
rather think of yourself
with sober judgment,
in accordance
with the measure
of faith God has
given you."
(Rom 12 : 1-3)
4) Jesus Himself came
to this earth and set
an example of faith
and behavior
so that we,
as Christians,
can follow him
and practice this.
(John 13 : 15)
5) Please live according to
our expectations
and hopes, so that
Christ may be honored
through us with
complete boldness.
(Phil 1 : 20)
We must live
with boldness,
and whether
we live or die,
we must live in honor
of Christ alone.
At this time,
we must not intercept
or usurp the glory
of the Lord.
6) Please live a life
that relies only on
the Lord as our
fathers of faith
trusted the Lord
and were delivered.
(Psalms 22 : 4)
If we have
received the Lord,
we must live a Jesus
- centered life.
That's because
the Lord has become
our owners.
(Gal 2 : 20)
Therefore,
how should we,
as Christians who follow
Jesus Christ, behave?
Yes!
No matter what
situations we are
faced with,
we must always think,
"What would Jesus do?"
And we will have
to behave carefully,
thinking first of
God's will, not our will.
This is a blessing to us
and the secret to our
victorious lives.
3. Jesus is the living one
and is with us all the time
Our Lord is with
His people,
us Christians.
Jesus is the Lord
who is the living one
and is at work even
right now.
The Lord is the First
and the Last,
and he holds the keys
of death and Hades.
(Rev 1 : 17-18)
Therefore, those
who call him the Lord
in the name of Jesus
and come to him
with strength will
definitely be saved.
(Heb 7 : 25)
The Lord is with us
and our lives are under
His control the same
to the very end of the age.
(Heb 13 : 8)
The Lord promises
His people two things.
1) He tells us to obey
everything that
the Lord has
commanded us.
(Matt 28 : 20)
And he promises us
that surely he is with us
always, to the very
end of the age.
2) He promises us
where two or three
come together in his name,
there is he with us.
(Matt 18 : 20)
Here is an example
in the Scriptures.
(Ex : 2)
'The church in Antioch'
Some of them,
however, men from
Cyprus and Cyrene,
went to Antioch
and began to speak
to Greeks also, telling
them the good news
about the lord Jesus.
The Lord's hand
was with them,
and a great number
of people belived and
turned to the Lord,
and then the disciples
were called christians
first at Antioch.
(Acts 11 : 20-21)
Those who have
the commands of Jesus
and obeys them,
they are the ones
who love the Lord.
Those who love Him
will be loved by God,
and Jesus too will
love them and show
Himself to them.
(John 14: 21, 23)
Everyone who does
evil hates the light,
and will not come
into the light for fear
that his deeds will be
exposed.
(John 3 : 20)
Therefore, we must hear
the voice of the Lord
and open the door to
become a Christian
who communicates
with the Lord.
(John 3 : 20)
Those who are open
and awake to the Lord...
Like ten virgins who
prepare oil and wait
to meet Jesus,
the bridegroom
who will come, we must
hear the voice of the Lord
and be the ones who
open the door of our hearts.
It is the important
mission of Christians
to share in the Lord's
work of salvation.
Therefore, we must
correct our attitude
of faith
so as not to defile
the name of the Lord
and the name given to us,
and live with more
responsibility and
seriousness.
In other words,
Jesus is our Lord
and we must live a
Jesus-centered life.
(Ex : 3)
King Solomon has
emphasized in
Ecclesiastes.
'Fear God and keep
his commandments,
for this is the whole
duty of man'.
(Ecclesiastes 12 : 13)
So let's
depend on Him!
Let's look to Him!
Let's follow Him!
Let's exalt His name!
The Lord will walk
with those who are
like this all the time.
