    What Is Hell12

    [Rev 21 : 8]

    / Ephphatha Church

    Discipleship Training

    (Basic Course)

    / By Pastor Priscilla

    Those who commit

    crimes in the world

    are definitely

     punished.

    If so, what's the

    punishment to those

    who sinned before God?

    Today, we are going to

see what it is in two

    sections.

    "For the wages of sin

    is death, but the gift

    of God is eternal life

    in Christ Jesus

    our Lord."

    (Rom 6 : 23)

    The Bible tells us that

    we have two kinds

     of death.

    1. Read the following

    scripture and find out

    the first death and what

    the second death is.

    "Just as man is destined

    to die once, and after

    that to face judgment."

    "But the cowardly,

    the unbelieving, the vile,

    the murderers, the

    sexually immoral,

    those who practice

    magic arts, the idolaters

    and all liars--their place

will be in the fiery lake

    of burning sulfur.

    This is the

    second death."

    (1) First death:

    We all die once and

    nobody can avoid it.

    "Just as man is destined

    to die once, and after

    that to face judgment."

    (Heb 9 : 27)

    (2) Second death

    It is the punishment

    that applies to those

    who sin before God.

    "But the cowardly,

    the unbelieving, the vile,

    the murderers, the

    sexually immoral,

    those who practice

    magic arts, the idolaters

    and all liars their place

will be in the fiery lake

    of burning sulfur."

    (Rev 21 : 8)

    Therefore, we sinners

    will meet two kinds

    of death.

    (1) First death

    The body and soul

    will be separated,

    and the body will

    return to dust.

    (Job 19 : 26,

    2 Peter 1 : 14, 15)

    2) Second Death

    Our souls will return

    to God, be judged,

    and thrown into

    the fire of hell.

    The saints,

    who are saved,

    will go to heaven

    and become the

    sons of God to

    obtain an eternal

     inheritance.

    However, those,

    who are not, won't

    be able to escape

    being thrown into

    the fire of sulfur.

    (Rev 21 : 7-8)

    Therefore,

    please keep in mind

    that we are Christians.

    And believe in and

    follow Jesus our Savior,

    and hope to go

     to Heaven.

    Do you know

    why hell exsits?

    That's the place

    where God punishes

    his enemies, fallen

     devil, and demons.

    (1) Those on God's left

    who left him and

    were cursed.

    (Matt 25 : 41)

    (2) The deceitful devil,

    beasts, and false prophets

    will be thrown into the

    lake of burning sulfur

    (Rev. 20 : 10)

    But what is reserved

    for those who have

    become children

    of God on his right?

    (1) Those blessed

    by their Father will take

    their inheritance, that is,

    the kingdom of God

    prepared for them

    since the creation

    of the world.

    (Matt 25 : 34)

    Originally, hell is

    not the place to put

    people created in the

    image of God in.

    But, why did humans

    enter such hell?

    That's because the

    gift of God is eternal

    life in Christ Jesus,

    but man in the image

    of God has sinned.

    In the end, every

    human is under the

    sin and the wages

    of sin is death.

    So he is doomed

    to enter the place

    of punishment for

    the devil to enter.

    (Rom 3 : 9, 23)

    (Rom 6 : 20, 23)

    However, in order to

    save man from such

    sins and punishments,

    God brought his one

    and only Son to death

    as the wages of sin,

    and we can be saved

    through him.

    (1 John 4 : 9-10)

    Therefore, the

    religion of Christianity

    does not simply seek

    to solve all the problems

    in this world

    and to be blessed

    worldly but it is the

    religion of life

    that can save our

    own lives from

    the punishment

    of sin and hell.

    (Matt 16 : 26)

    (John 6 : 63)

    As people live in this

    world, probably they

    really need

    and want more of

    the worldly things

    they see.

    However, from

    God's point of view,

    there is nothing more

    urgent than delivering

    his children from hell.

    That is why

    the Lord said,

    "Do not be afraid

of those who kill the body

    but cannot kill the soul.

    Rather, be afraid of

    the One who can

    destroy both soul

    and body in hell."

    (Matt 10 : 28)

    In addition,

    the Lord told us to

    ask for the kingdom

    of God

    first before

    we ask for food,

    clothing, and shelter.

    (Matt 6 : 31-33)

    That's because God

    the Creator knows

    what we humans need

    most and supplies

     them as needed.

    2. Find out what Hell

    where sinners will go is.

    Through the example

    of a rich man and

    a beggar named

    Lazarus,

    we can clearly see

    that there is heaven

    and hell to face

    after death.

    (Luke 16 : 19-31)

    As children of God,

    we have some work to

    do in advance to

    enter heaven.

    The Scripture definitely

    warns us, children

    of God as follows.

    (1) We must hate sin

    and make sure

    to cut it off from

    our mind and body.

    (Mark 9 : 43-49)

    In particular,

    in the aspect of

    eternal life, God,

    who hates sin,

    first requires us to

    have a definite attitude

    and determination

    to cut off sin.

    Therefore, it's so

    important to check out

    what to look to as

    children of God today

    and we must always

    be on the lookout for

    our use of eyes,

    hands, and feet.

    We live with hope

    for the kingdom of

    God and heaven.

    Eventually we must

    keep in mind that

    all we have to look

    to is the

    'Jesus Christ'

    who is our way,

    truth, and life.

    (2) The patience

    of the saints.

    "A third angel

    followed them

    and said in a loud

     voice:

    "If anyone worships

    the beast and his

    image and receives

    his mark on the

    forehead

    or on the hand,

    he too, will drink

of the wine of God's fury,

    which has been poured

    full strength into the cup

    of his wrath.

    He will be tormented

    with burning sulfur

    in the presence

    of the holy angels

     and of the Lamb.

    And the smoke of

    their torment rises

    for ever and ever.

    There is no rest day

    or night for those

    who worship the beast

    and his image,

    or for anyone

    who receives the

    mark of his name."

    (Rev 14 : 9-11)

    With God's

    commandments

    and faith,

    we need patience

    to overcome trials

    and tribulations by

    keeping faith in Jesus.

    (3) "Watch and pray

    so that you will not

    fall into temptation."

    (Matt 26 : 41)

    We try to follow

    God's commandments,

but it is easy to go astray

    because the our spirit

    is willing but our

    body is weak.

    Therefore, we must

    keep watch not to fall

    into temptations made

    from circumstances

    of the world.

    As the Lord asked

    His disciples to do,

    all we need is God's

    Word and prayer.

    (4) Don't do evil.

    "The Son of Man

    will send out his angels,

    and they will weed

    out of his kingdom

    everything that causes

sin and all who do evil.

    They will throw them

    into the fiery furnace,

    where there will be

    weeping

    and gnashing

    of teeth."

    (Matt 13 : 41-43)

    God has given message

    to those who do evil

    as follows.

    His angels will weed

    them out of his kingdom

    and thrown into

    the fiery furnace.

    (5)The wicked will be

    separated from

    the righteous.

At the end of the age,

    the angels will come

    and separate the

    wicked from the

    righteous

    and throw them

    into the fiery furnace.

    (Matt 13 : 49-50)

    Therefore,

    It is the fact that

    we can never go to

    heaven only with

    the name of being

    a Christian.

    This is truly

    terrifying us.

    If we simply

    believe in Jesus

    for the things of

    the world,

    would it have been

    necessary for Jesus

    to be cruelly killed

    on the cross?

    As you know,

    there are people

    who are models of

    others by good deeds

    without believing

    in Christ

    and happily enjoy

    a wealthy life.

    That might seem

    envious to us.

    Then, why was

    the Lord killed

    on the cross?

    It is by no means

    just for the things

    of world.

    Let's take a look at

    some more important

    reasons than that.

    God could not

    but sacrifice his one

    and only Son so that

    His beloved children

    might have eternal

    life even if they

    left Him.

    "We all, like sheep,

    have gone astray,

    each of us has turned

    to his own way;

    and the LORD has

    laid on him the

    iniquity of us all."

    (Isa 53 : 6)

    "For God so loved

    the world that

    he gave his one

    and only Son,

    that whoever

    believes in him shall

    not perish but have

    eternal life."

    (John 3 : 16)

    The devil tries

    to steal our happiness

    and kill and destroy us.

    But, God wants to

    give a blessed life

    to us and give an

    inheritance to us,

    and wants us to

    have eternal life.

    That's His purpose

     for each one of us.

    Therefore, we must

    realize that there is

    not hell for us,

    but, the kingdom

    of life, that is, the

     kingdom of God.

    Then, how do we live

    to go to the kingdom

    of God?

    (1) Let's keep our faith.

    While living on this earth,

    we must not give up

    our faith and live

    by keeping our faith

    definitely to the end

    so that God's amazing

    sacrificial love may

     not be meaningless.

    (2) Let's become

    the one who will

     overcome the world.

    In the future,

    until we enter the

    kingdom of God,

    we must overcome

    ourselves and our

    environment, that is,

    the world.

    Because the kingdom

    is the place that only

    those who will overcome

    by faith can enter.

    (Rev 21 : 7)

    (3) good news

    Let's be the one who

    will diligently evangelize

    the good news.

    And we must guide

    our households and

    neighbors who do

    not know this fact

    into Christ and lead

    them to salvation.

    (2 Kings 7 : 9)

    This is the mission

    entrusted to us

    who remain in this

    world today:

    Beautiful news,

    Good News,

    that is

    - Gospel.

    -Hallelujah!

    3. Summary

    1) What is

    the wages of sin?

    - Death

    2) What is the

     condition of death?

    (1) The body and soul

    will be separated,

    and the body will

    return to dust.

    (2) Our souls will return

    to God and be judged

    and be thrown into

    the fire of hell.

    (3) What should we

     really be afraid of?

    -You should be afraid

    of falling into hell

     forever rather than life.

    (4) What is hell and

    who is it originally

     reserved for?

-It is not a place made

    to put people in,

    but a place that is

    made to punish those

    who oppose God,

    fallen devil and

    demons.

    (5) What is the

     situation in Hell?

      -A place where there

    is no rest day or

    night with fire,

    sulfur, worms,

     furnace fire,

    and pain.

    (6) Where is the place

     prepared for the saved?

    -Kingdom of God,

    heaven, peace, joy,

    communion, glory,

    health, inheritance,

    rewarding and

    prosperity

    (7) Now, as a God's child

    who have been saved,

    what do you think

     your mission is?

    That is to evangelize

    the beautiful

    and blessed life of

    heaven to those

    who don't  believe

    in Jesus.
