    'David' 8...

    -The Man After Man's

    Own Heart!

    [1 Sam 18:7]

    / Paul's Bible Characters

    / By Paul

    1. David had the perfect

    courage that humans

    could have.

    There are two kinds of

    courage,  physical courage

    and moral courage.

    1) Physical Courage:

This is an attitude of boldly

    confronting personal risks,

    and this courage

    is accomplished primarily

on the basis of God's promise

    and presence to those

    who have faith.

     (Joshua)

    2) Moral courage:

This is the courage of the heart

to face without shame on faith

    and conscience, and this

    courage is achieved primarily

on the basis of truth and

    justice in the heart.

      (Daniel)

    David's courage was so great.

    That's because he had those

    two kinds of courage from

    his personal aspect.

It's not easy even for most

    courageous ones to keep

    either of them.

    2. David had a special

    friendship with his

    friend Jonathan.

    In the process of defeating

    the same enemies

    the Philistines,

    the friendship between David

    and Jonathan was unusually

    established in mutual

    strong faith.

    There are three

    characteristics of David's

    friendship with Jonathan.

      (1 Sa. 18 : 1)

    1) It was a friendship of a

    'bridge of the heart' that

    shares the purpose and

    direction of life.

    2) It was a friendship of a

    'bridge of love' that could

    sacrifice lives on behalf

    of each other.

    3) It was a friendship of a

    ' bridge of loyalty' that

    affected the future

    generations.

    David showed the people

    of his time the friendship

    that Jesus showed to

    his disciples, 'philia'.

    3. David's affection was

    the desire of pure human

    instincts,

    but later his love

    was transformed into

    full love of a personality.

    Desire arises from cravings,

    and is the expression of

    instincts belonging to

    the soul and body.

    -David, who had fallen

    into laziness with

    abundance and peace,

    made his spiritual life

    indolent, and it led

    him into sin.

    David, who lost truth and

    justice, even committed

    murder,

    but through seven days

    of fasting and prayer of

    repentance, he was forgiven

    by God after all.

    However, the reward for sins,

severely, had been the cause of

    continued family misfortune.

    Also, through God's discipline,

    David had the experience

    of sublimating the affection

    of human desires into

    pure love.

    In other words,

    he changed from the

    view of seeing the opposite

sex as the object of the body

to the view of love, seeing

    the person of spirit, soul,

    and body.

    Therefore, it is a good

    example that King David

did not want to sleep with

    her at all, even though

    King David was assisted

    by a girl named Abishag

    due to his discomfort

    in old age.

    God's providence toward

    humans shows that he is

    God of great love that,

    even though sin is handled

    strictly, repentance will

    forgive any sin.

    Considering David the human,

    his faith was outstanding

    and there were many

    wonderful things in him,

but he was also a man

    with sinful nature.

    As soon as he realized

    he  committed a sin, he

    repented immediately

    before God.

    And also through his

    temperance, we can see

    his sanctified image of

    never falling into the

    same sin again.

    Therefore,

    how about becoming

    the ones who love David,

    who always wanted to be

    the man after God's own

    heart, and the ones

    who put the entire life

    of David in hearts as

    a lesson in life?
