God Who Wants Reconciliation
/ From The Valley Of Achor
To The Door Of Hope! 105
[Hos 2:14-23]
/ Anne's Faith Column
/ By Priscilla
Looking at today's scripture,
God gives the unrighteous
Israelites an opportunity
to repent on the day
designated by God,
and once they realize their
mistakes and turn from sins,
God will comfort them and
allow them the door of hope.
Furthermore,
when they abandon idolatry,
God will restore them to lie
down in safety.
God compares our relationship
with Him to the marriage vows
of a husband and wife,
and He wants to reconcile with us
and have a new relationship.
God also tells them not to
worship idols again and not to
remember their names.
Then, on that day,
He will answer for the Israelites,
restore all things in nature,
and make a new covenant,
promising that
'all may lie
down in safety.'
(Hos 2:18-20)
How comforting are
these words of promise?
It is God's grace to us that God
will give us advice and comfort,
and wash away the traces of our sins,
without rebuking our sins of the past.
Sometimes even my husband
in the flesh can't comfort me
and doesn't want to sacrifice
himself for me, but even more so,
God shows love to me who is
so vulnerable and He wants to
be my bridegroom himself,
so I am overwhelmed.
Only in the Lord can we lie
down in peace and rest.
There is no end to the toil
and worries of this world,
but in the end, we expect God
to fill us with grace as much as
the number of days we have
worked hard.
God makes the Valley
of Achor a door of hope.
Looking at God, from now on,
we will have to advance
toward Him sincerely.
When God wants to have
fellowship with us and extends
his arm to each of us, we will
have to be his children who will
hold on to His arm and not let go.
When we march toward
the door of hope and confess
that God is everything to us
and hope itself, He will
always be our God.
What should we do for that?
1) We must live by acknowledging
that God is our Lord each day.
2) Remembering God who brough
t us out of Egypt, we must live with
thanksgiving and obedience.
3) We must love God passionately
and must not become saints who
live like big fish in a small pond.
Prayer
Lord!
I love the Lord with all my heart.
The Lord makes the valley of
Achor of despair, which seemed
like death, a door of hope to me.
I truly thank you for comforting me
in my unrighteous ways, restoring
my relationship with the Lord,
who had been blocked,
and protecting me
consistently
until now.
Amen
