God Who Hates Unbelief
(Israelites Who Commits
Adultery)101
[Hos 1:1-5]
/ Anne's Faith Column
/ By Priscilla
God doesn't want His people
to commit adultery.
However, He just wants them to
be faithful to Him in their lives.
God expressed His love for
Israel through the life of Hosea.
Hosea's marriage to Gomer
showed the relationship between
God and His people, and the faithful
Hosea showed God's
unchangeable love as well.
Hosea obeyed to God and
chose Gomer as his wife,
who lived an adulterous life.
His marriaged life must have
been much more difficult fo
r him than we could imagine.
How did he feel when he had
to forgive and accept his wife,
who frequently left home to
sleep with someone else?
And think of the sorrow
he must have felt in bringing
such a woman back home
and the difficulties
he had to go through
living with her again!
In particular,
in the relationship between
God and Israelites, Hosea
experienced Israelites' betrayal
and God's heart more deeply
than anyone else and formed
a consensus.
In fact, the situation of the Israelites,
who immediately turned away
from God
and were devoted to their
idols with their adulterous
hearts when they became
abundant even a little are not
different from our situation
in modern times at all.
Like Hosea, who kept his heart
and served God faithfully,
while living in today’s sinful world
full of evil, it is actually not easy to
live with integrity and follow the
Word, not being stained by the
world, not betraying God.
In order to have a pure life
as Christians and as children
of God, there are times
when we can not help
suffering from many sacrifices,
damages, and insults.
Depending on God's will,
it is not easy to live in
obedience to His Word.
This is because there is a
huge difference between
God's will and our will.
But today, God told us
to live as shrewd as snakes
and as innocent as doves
when we live in this world,
even though our lives may
face difficulties.
Therefore, as God said,
we should pursue a wise
and pure life.
When we are in trials,
we must not assert our
will too much, but obey
to God in the help of
the Holy Spirit,
remove unbelief from
our hearts, and only trust
in God and go through
the world.
We must put 'Jesus Christ'
in the center of our lives.
This is because we were once
unforgivable sinners who
committed adultery like
'Gomer' as well.
Perhaps,
like 'Hosea' in the Bible today,
Jesus Christ, the Savior
who came to this earth
to forgive
and redeem us sinners,
saying that we are justified.
'Jesus' is the way and
the truth and the life to us.
God remembers all our sins.
However, if we repent and
confess our sins,
God will remove our sins
from us as far as the east
is from the west.
Without questioning our sins,
God shows mercy and kindness
to each of us who mourns with
a sincere heart through
'circumcision of the heart'.
Although God hates sin,
He loves His people.
Today,
I must look back again
to see whether there are sins
within me that I have not
yet confessed to God
or whether I live a shameful life
without bearing fruit worthy
of repentance,
and must pray for a
reform of faith.
Thus, we must serve God
faithfully like the prophet
of love, Hosea.
Above all, we must love
and serve God wholeheartedly,
and then, we must be upright
Christians who love and accept
our neighbors as ourselves,
accepting them without judging
or condemning them carelessly.
Therefore,
we must be pure brides
who live by having Jesus Christ
as their bridegroom in the
center of our hearts,
abstaining from idolatry and
rebellion that God hates, or from
greed, temptation, and adultery.
How should we live for that?
1) The more difficulties
we are in, the more we must
trust God who is faithful.
2) We must count on the
Word absolutely so that
we can have a God-
centered life.
3) We must guard our hearts
not to be stained by the world,
and if there is somet
Prayer
Lord!
Thank you for leading us to
realize what you want from us.
As soon as we receive the Word,
let us be willing to obey it
with a joyful heart!
Amen
