    Testimony About God 87

    [Gen 24:28-49]

     / Anne's Faith Column

    / By Priscilla

"Tell me, so I may know

    which way to turn."

    In today's scripture, the servant

of Abraham set out on a journey

according to the guidance of God.

    Through the process of receiving

    a special mission and choosing

Isaac's wife, we learn a new lesson

from his attitude for serving God.

    The attitude of the servant

    who carried out his mission

    can be seen as 'faithfulness'

    itself.

    He didn't take any commands

    in his own way.

    He didn't add to or

    subtract from them.

    He didn't go beyond

    his own thoughts or ways.

He only showed loyalty to his

    master and obedience itself.

It is easy to see that he was actually

a faithful servant, in verse 33, when

    he revealed his decisive attitude:

"I will not eat until I have

told you what I have to say."

In the same way, when we

live in this world, when God

entrusts each of us with a task,

whether it is a small one

    or a great one,

    we must fulfill the

    task and serve God faithfully.

    In particular, in verse 49,

    he pleaded with the other

    person by saying,

    "Tell me, so I may

    know which way to turn."

    Through this,

    we can see his loyalty

    towards his purpose alone.

We can also discover his sincerity,

    never minding the circumstances

    around him.

Through this, we can look back

    on ourselves whose minds

    and actions easily change

    depending on the situation.

We must not add to or subtract

from what we have seen, heard,

    or learned according to the

    commands to preach the gospel

    while keeping the testimony

    of God and His commands.

    Furthermore, we remind ourselves

that we should not neglect teaching

    and live diligently, honestly,

    and faithfully.

    Thus, we must re-recognize

that we must live our lives in obedience

    to the commands and directions

    of our Heavenly Father,

and do our best according to

what He has commanded us to do.

    Romans 14:18 says:

    "Because anyone who serves Christ

in this way is pleasing to God

    and approved by men."

    After the Apostle Paul met

Jesus on the road to Damascus

    and completely changed,

as he confessed, he continued to

follow the way of the cross,

    looking toward the goal

    in one direction, serving

    his master, 'Jesus Christ'.

    In the same way, like

    Abraham's servant

    and the Apostle Paul,

who spent the rest of their lives

    waiting for God earnestly,

we should follow their walk of faith

and march on the right path led by

    the Holy Spirit without any

    doubt, step by step.

So, how should we live our lives?

    1) We must be faithful to the Word.

    2) We must not compromise

    with the ever-changing environment.

    3) We should only practice

what we have learned and have

    been convinced of.

    And we should become those

    who are pleasing to God

    and approved by men.

    4) We must strengthen our hearts

to have a firm philosophy of faith.

    Prayer

    Lord!

Help us to imitate the attitude

    of Abraham's servant, who

    was faithful to his mission.

    We entrust everything to You.

Help us to live on this earth

    with a decisive attitude and

be a faithful servant of You,

who has faith and does the

right thing to do with the

    commands you have

     given each of us!
