Lecture On The
Bible

2. What is the Lord's
mission as a disciple?
1) It is the duty of a disciple
to act with love for
one another.
"A new command
I give you: Love one
another.
As I have loved you,
so you must love
one another.
By this all men will know
that you are my disciples,
if you love one another."
[Jn: 34-35]
[Ex] Samuel Rutherford
A godly pastor named
'Samuel Rutherford' had
a habit of studying the Bible
with his family on Saturday
One Saturday evening,
someone knocked on
the door
and when he opened it,
a stranger had asked
him if he could stay
overnight there.
So he let the stranger in,
studied the Bible together,
and asked him the easiest
question.
“How many
commandments
are there in all?”
"Yeah. There are eleven.”
Answered the guest.
“I don't think so.
God has given us the Ten
Commandments to keep.”
He said gently so that
the stranger could
not be embarrassed.
Then the guest said,
“Jesus added
‘love one another’
as a new commandment,
so there are 11 command
-ments in total.”
The next Sunday morning,
Pastor Rutherford heard
a prayer coming from
behind the fence.
He was moved by
the sincere prayer.
After waiting
for a long time,
when the prayer was
over, he asked
“Who are you?”
“I am Archbishop
of Ireland ‘
Usher.
' Your piety has
spread so widely that
I have used this method
to check it out for
yourself,”
he answered.
Jesus said that love is
not a choice, but an
obedience based upon
the commandment.
He said that love should
be accepted as a
command to keep
and act as a
commandment rather
than a intentional act.
And we can find the basis
of a command from the love
of Jesus on the cross.
Discrimination can arise
when you try to express
love as an emotion.
But, when we accept love
as a commandment, we are
able to give love to all equally.
