Christian Worship16
[John 4 : 23-24]
/ Ephphatha Discipleship
Training (Basic Course)
/ By Pastor Priscilla
"Yet a time is coming
and has now come
when the true worshipers
will worship the Father
in spirit and truth,
for they are the kind
of worshipers the
Father seeks.
God is spirit,
and his worshipers
must worship in spirit
and in truth."
(John 4 : 23-24)
It is the most
important thing
for saints to worship.
God in their
Christian life.
However, there are
many believers who
don't know the true
meaning of worship.
When we worship God
with the correct attitude
and appreciation
for worship,
we can receive grace
and blessings from Him.
So today, let's take
a look at the worship
of Christians in three
units.
1. What is 'worship'
and who is its object?
Worship originally
means 'Worth + Ship'
meaning' to give value
to anyone and to things',
'to show respect'
or 'to kneel down on
your face' and kiss
your hand.
In other words,
worship has the
meaning of courtesy,
respect, and obedience
toward elder people.
Therefore,
we must not forget
that there is none
to worship with our
highest values other
than God.
(Example: 1)
Theory of Angel Worship
/ Theory of Satan Worship
It is not an angel
that we will worship.
(Rev. 22 : 8-9)
He is nothing but
a creature, and it is
only God that we
must serve.
Lucifer, who was
in charge of praise
among the angels,
was favored by God,
exalted himself,
became proud,
and tried to betray
God and usurp the
place to receive
God's worship.
In the future,
he will eventually
be defeated.
As children of God,
we must only make
God the object of
worship, not Satan,
who holds the spirit
of the world.
Therefore, we must
respect God and
give Him the
highest value
and worship Him
in spirit and in truth.
And we must kneel down
before Him and praise
and thank Him
for His power.
All these behaviors
are called worship.
2. Why should we
only glorify God?
That's because
God is our Creator
and He made all things
according to His will.
(Rev. 4 : 11)
God sent Jesus
to this earth like
a lamb for the work
of salvation for
mankind.
(Rev. 7 : 10)
Therefore, it is
natural for humans,
creatures made by God,
to praise the name
of the LORD.
(Psalm 148 : 5)
In addition,
God will empower
His children living
on earth, making them
to be a kingdom
and priests to serve
our God, and they will
reign on the earth
through the power
of the blood of
Jesus Christ.
(Rev 5 : 9-10)
We are delivered
from sin with the
extreme love of the
Father and Son,
Jesus as well as
with the creative power
and power of God.
Therefore,
God is worthy to
be worshiped
and praised forever
by us who are his
children.
We must also know
that it is a natural
grace and a blessed
mission for us to
worship God.
What blessings will
we receive when
we worship Him?
1) When we worship,
we are endowed
with power.
'Every good and
perfect gift is
from above,
coming down from
the Father of the
heavenly lights.'
(James 1 : 17)
When we praise Him,
He has blessed us
with every spiritual
blessing in Christ in the
heavenly realms.
(Eph 1 : 3)
3) Through worship,
He causes us to be
born again in spirit
and grants us
living hope.
Not only that,
but He allows us to
have an inheritance
that can never perish,
spoil or fade.
(1 Peter 1 : 3-4)
4) "Great is his love
toward us, and
the faithfulness
of the LORD
endures forever."
(Psalm 117 : 2)
There are so many
reasons to worship
and thank God for.
Above all, we enjoy
spiritual and physical
blessings by receiving
the spirit of God's
sonship
so we must worship
Him with all our
wholehearted devotion.
3. How should we worship?
1) The nature of worship
- God seek to find
true worshipers.
Since God is Spirit,
we must worship
in spirit and in truth.
(John 4 :2 4)
God also wants us
to worship with all
our wholehearted
devotion,
not with formality
and hypocrisy.
(Isaiah 1 : 12)
2) Discrimination
of worship
- Worship is given to God
and through worship
we can meet with God.
It is important to know
that worship is not
a one-sided individual
action, but a channel
of meeting
and communication
with God.
(Exo 25 : 22)
And also worship
causes us to have
communion of saints.
(Matt 18 : 20)
In a place where
God's name is
commemorated
(Exo 20 : 24)
God Himself comes
and blesses us when
we worship Him.
Be sure to know that
He is the God whose
eyes are open and
ears are attentive
to the prayers
of the children
in the holy sanctuary
designated by God
(2 Chro 7 : 15).
That God is the
Holy One who
dwells in praise.
(Psalm 22 : 3)
Moreover,
worship does not
mean that a worshiper
just waits and sees,
as if he is looking over
a wall with his arms
crossed.
Worship is the time
when God meets with us,
so we must give our
heart, prayers, praise,
gifts, and all of our lives
to God while worshiping.
Therefore,
when worshiping,
there should be no formal
or hypocritical rituals.
There must be
authenticity
in our hearts.
Above all, it is
necessary to prepare
carefully for worship
with the grace of God.
(1) Preparation for prayer
- "And pray in the Spirit
on all occasions with
all kinds of prayers
and plea.
With this in mind,
be alert."
(Eph 6 : 18)
(2) Preparation of the
heart of yearning
- God is the one who
satisfies the thirsts
and fills the hungers
with good things.
(Psalm 107 : 9)
3) Make an effort
to prepare in time.
-We the children
of God should not
make God, who is
the true worshiper,
wait for them.
We should not
be rude to God.
Therefore, it is
necessary to prohibit
actions that will
interfere with worship
and to remove
obstacles in advance.
Since God is the one
who sees the center
of his children's hearts
and attitudes,
we should give a gift
to God generously,
not hesitate to or
not be stingy to.
(2 Corin 9 : 5)
Through worship
we will meet with God.
So be willing to give
ours to Him,
and we will receive the
blessings from Him
as children of God.
So, what will we
receive from God
through holy worship?
1) All true worshipers
can experience the
presence of the
Holy Spirit
and the excitement
of the anointing
of the Holy Spirit
in various ways.
(Acts 10 : 44-45)
2) The gifts and powers
of the Holy Spirit
All these things are
given by the Holy Spirit
to each person
according to his will.
(1 Corin 11 : !2)
3) Prayer of blessing
It is given to the
children of God.
(Num 6 : 23-27)
(Ex : 2)
(Benediction) :
"Tell Aaron and his sons,
'This is how you are
to bless the Israelites.
Say to them:
The LORD bless you
and keep you;
the LORD make his face
shine upon you
and be gracious to you;
the LORD turn his face
toward you and
give you peace.
So they will put my name
on the Israelites,
and I will bless them."
(Num 6 : 23-27)
(4) Word of Gd
When you listen
to a sermon,
do not receive it
in human words,
but receive it through
the word of God.
This is because
God works on those
who accept God's Word
into their hearts.
(1 Thessa 2 : 13)
Therefore,
when we worship,
we must offer it
with all our whole-
-hearted devotion,
and when we receive
blessings from God,
we must receive them
with wholehearted
gratitude and devotion.
And we must practice
and apply the words
the Lord gave us in
our daily lives.
When the messages
each of us have
received from the
Lord are put into practice,
the fruits of blessing
and change will
be produced.
If we walk in all the way
that the LORD has
commanded us,
we will live and prosper
and prolong our days
in the land that we
will possess.
(Deut. 5 : 33)

rely on Him,
look up to Him,

Follow Him, and
exalt His name.
