In Chapter, 3
we are going to learn
what idols are and what
God tells us about them.
1. Humans and religions
There are many polytheistic
countries in the world.
For example,
the Japanese worship
various gods in
various places,
including spirits
in the garden, living
rooms, kitchens,
and rooms in the
house...etc.
Wherever humans live,
traces of the worship
of gods can be found.
However, there is no
evidence of animals s
erving gods in the world.
Thus, only humans
have religions and
we've served only the
God we confessed
to be the Father.
"Do I mean then that
a sacrifice offered to
an idol is anything, or
that an idol is anything?
No, but the sacrifices
of pagans are offered to
demons, not to God,
and I do not want you
to be participants with
demons.
You cannot drink
the cup of the Lord
and the cup of
demons too;
you cannot have a part
in both the Lord's table
and the table of demons.
(1 Cor 10 : 19-21)
The Supreme being
is only God, and the
others are not.
God is expressed
as God and demons
are expressed
as gods.
Satan is also just
a creature of God.
These are the beings
to be thrown into
the fire of hell.
There is no reason
for usto fear them.
Whenever in our
dreams and in a visions
the fear of evil spirits
come to us, call out
the name of Jesus.
With just one shout out,
fear disappears from us.
They come into us
through fear.
Worldly people worship
their hand-made figures,
animals, and things
in nature as idols.
They worship as idols t
he things that God has
commanded human
beings to rule over.
That is, what reveals
the glory of God has been
turned into idols,
and such a lustful life
has put them into
spiritual depravity.
There is only one God
who is worthy to be praised.
Our absolute priority is God.
How great is the love
the Father has lavished
on us, that we should
be called children
of God!
And that is what we are!
The reason the world
does not know us is
that it did not
know him.
Dear friends, now
we are children of God,
and what we will be has
not yet been made
known.
But we know that
when he appears, we shall
be like him, for we shall
see him as he is.
(1 Jn 3 : 1-2)
Humans idolize what
they see in front of them
with stupidity and greed.
They serve all things
in nature, idolize them,
and serve fallen angels
who will be judged and
thrown into hell.
Those who worship
these idols are sure
to have shame,
punishment, and
destruction.
Blessed are those
who serve God
as their Lord.
Serving idols can
never be forgiven.
We should receive
God as Father and
serve the God alone.
2. Ask yourself the
questions below.
1) Which do I love more,
God or myself ?
2) Is God my absolute priority?
3) In which room have I had
my God in my inner world?
3. Summary
1) Why do humans have
a religion, unlike animals?
-Because humans are
spiritual beings and
religious.
2) Who is the only
true God in the world?
-There is only one God.
He is omnipresent.
3) Let's identify the types
of things people worship!
-God is the creator of
all things, the origin of life.
Despite He is the Supreme
being, humans worship
all things and beasts
by embodying them.
4) Why do all things
in nature exist?
-God made all things
in nature for humans
and commanded us
to rule over them.
And those are our food.
in nature for humans
and commanded us
to rule over them.
5) What is an idol
and how is it made?
-Humans serve God's
creatures and make
them idols.
They serve uselessness,
curse themselves,
and eventually turn
themselves into
suffering.
6) What are the demons?
-Some are the
fallen angels and others
are the angels that
sinned against God.
7) What is the end
of idol worshipers?
-It absolutely results
in shame and destruction.
They are judged and
thrown into the lake
of burning sulfur.
8) What does God say
to us humans?
-God has saved us
in justice (grace),
and He wants to
bless us.
He wants to restore our
relationship with God
to that of father
and children.
9) What is the worst
sin in the world?
-It is idolatry.
10) What are the idols
or other religions you
abandoned?
-Find out what your idol
is and break it down.
4. Sanctification
(Ex: The mirror
vs The glass)
What we need
to do is sanctification.
Look at myself in front
of the mirror.
Then I can only see
myself and cannot see
behind the mirror.
The process of our
sanctification is like
peeling off a
coated mirror.
When young, our souls
were as pure as glass.
Our souls are the hearts
of children, like a glass plate
with one inside and outside.
However, growing up,
our souls have been
covered with worldly
knowledge,
and the glass that was
the same inside and
outside has become
a mirror that we
cannot see behind.
It is the process of
sanctification to peel
off, or throw away,
this over-coated self
one by one.
Knowing God is higher
knowledge, and knowing
the world is lower
knowledge.
Through the Bible we can
remove common sense
and fixed frames.
Then, the spirit
becomes clear, the
eyes of the spirit get
opened and you get
to see behind
the mirror.
5. Conclusion of idolatry.
Idols are useless.
It is the idolatry to
breathe the spirits into
those vain things,
and they make
human beings ridiculed
and drunk with them.
It is no different
from alcohol.
We can find the
conclusion of idolatry
in the following
scriptures.
"When you cry out
for help, let your
collection of idols
save you!
The wind will carry
all of them off,
a mere breath will
blow them away.
But the man who
makes mehis refuge
will inherit the land
and possess my holy
mountain."
(Isa 57 : 13)
