/ By Pastor Priscilla
If we know the ending
of a drama in advance,
we can watch it without
any anxiety at all.
Likewise, if we know
the ending of our lives,
we will spend our present
time more faithfully,
live joyfully, and enjoy
the moment we are in.
We're going to deal with
'Sinful lives' in this chapter 5.
In this chapter,
let's look at what sin is
and why humans,
special beings created
in the image of God,
have sinned.
We're going to learn
how the sin comes in
and what it really is.
And also, I hope
we can find our
identity this time
(Ex : 1)
Galaxy Railway 999)
A boy who wandered
from planet to planet
for eternal life to find
and save his mother.
We human beings,
whether believers
or unbelievers,
will surely stand before
God's judgment seat
after death in the future,
regardless of anyone.
Matt 25 : 46 says as below.
"Then they will go away
to eternal punishment,
but the righteous
to eternal life."
If there is a judgment,
let's think about what
will happen to us
in the future.
For us sinners, there is
only one way to go.
We must know
our identity,
acknowledge the
Creator God
who made us, and
return to our home,
the kingdom of heaven.
Will you choose
the way to heaven ?
Or will you face the
judgment of sin that
will lead to destruction?”
Today we will have to
make a fateful choice.
Romans 6 : 23 says:
"For the wages of sin is death,
but the gift of God is eternal life
in Christ Jesus our Lord."
We humans are so
accustomed to sinning
even if we don't take
a seminar on sin.
(Ex : 2) The law of elasticity
of a rubber band
- A principle of returning
when pulled.)
(Ex : 3) Diet
When people on a diet
get a little off guard,
they will end up with
'a yo-yo' effect and return to
their original state.
Because of Adam's
disobedience and pride,
we humans have two
sinful natures :
-The original sin
and The sin of doing.
(Gen. 3 : 15)
1. Original sin
-This is the sinful nature
of man, and we can't
get rid of its attribute
even if we try to
wash it off.
2. Sin of doing
This is an individual sin
committed by man
before God,
and we must spit out
the sins committed
and wash them away
with repentance.
(Ex : 4)
A young boy
and his father
A father teaches his boy
what sin is as below.
Whenever the boy
commits a sin, his father
drives a nail into a tree,
and when the boy realizes
his sin and then does
a good thing, the father
prasis him, and pulls
out the nail.
However, the boy sees
that the unsightly nail print
remains on the tree
after the nails are
pulled out and asks his
father a question.
“Dad. I've tried hard
to remove the nail
prints on the tree,
but they still
remain on it.”
Then Dad said,
“Right, son!
You need to keep you
away from sinning."
It is the sinful nature
of man to commit a sin.
Therefore, even if
we are children of God,
the devil denounce us
when we commit a sin
whether knowingly
or unknowingly.
But never be so
discouraged or
embarrassed even
if we are deceived.
Let's truly repent
to God and bring forth
the fruit worthy of
that repentance,
and sincerely give
our heart to God
with the good deeds
that follow that
repentance.
Jesus, the last Adam
came to this world
in obedience for us
sinners and became
a sacrifice to God,
died on the cross,
and opened the way
of salvation for
mankind.
(Gal. 2 : 20)
Man of the old nature
sets his mind on
worldly things such as
the cravings of sinful man,
the lust of his eyes
and the boasting of
what he has and does.
However,
the inner being
wants to take after
God's nature.
In other words,
the new being wants
to fully bear the fruit
of the Holy Spirit.
The apostle Paul
lamented all the
time as below.
"Oh, my inner man
wants to be like God.
My body, my outer
man walks in ways
I do not want!”
"What a wretched
man I am!
Who will rescue me
from this body
of death?"
He lamented that
because he was a sinful man,
the nearer he went
before God,
the more he committed
sins he did not want to.
God's Justice
God is fair.
Sunlight and shade
are given equally
to whether believers
or unbelievers,
whether the righteous
or the wicked.
Even in the same
environment,
it is divided into those
who live positively
and those who live
negatively.
After all, it is important
what to choose and
how to live lives.
Are you looking for
sunlight in your life?
Or are you looking for
shade because you
don't like sunlight?
After all, it matters
what to choose.
-Worship
We humans will worship
only God, our Creator.
What is worship?
It is to worship the most
valuable object.
It is a compound word
of'worth' and 'ship'
(to place something),
and worship means
to place an object
of worship in the most
valuable position.
Then what kind
of beings are humans?
On one hand,
we humans are special
beings of greatest value,
but on the other hand,
we must never forget
that we are sinners who
were cut off from God
as the descendants
of the first man Adam
who had sinned and fell.
We must never forget
the value of Jesus' sacrifice,
who obeyed with mercy
for a fallen life
and opened the way
to salvation through the
suffering of the cross.
Therefore, we must not
be proud, and we must
not deny or disobey God.
When we lose our
center without
knowing our identity,
we feel like going back
and forth to heaven
and hell countless times
a day according to
our choice.
Let's find our identity!
(Ex : 5) identity
Humanity is divided
into various races.
Just as if we don't like
our natural skin color
and cannot be changed
by washing or painting,
the original sin from
the crime committed
by the first man Adam,
the first ancestor
of mankind, cannot be
removed because
it is by nature.
However, Jesus Christ,
the last Adam, has
overcome this sin by
defeating the temptations
of the devil with the
Word to the end.
What is the wicked man
that God speaks about?
It is important to know
God's view of the
wicked biblically.
Do you deny or
believe in God?
Or do you reject or
trust your God Father?
By these standards,
God defines the wicked.
Zeal and passion
sometimes go
against God's will.
When we come to
realize God's love,
our first obstacle is
excessive zeal and
passion.
There are times when
these things precede
God's will and we rather
go against God's will.
(Ex : 6) Peter's zeal
Like Zealot members
of the Israelites,
we must not break
God's heart by following
mere natural instincts
with wrong passion.
They followed Jesus
as the Messiah
by their actions, and
eventually contributed
to crucifying
Jesus as an interpretation
for their own benefit.
Let's think about
the ending of Peter's
excessive zeal.
It resulted in the denial
of Jesus with his lips
three times.
Jesus pointed out
that even though
Peter had zeal and passion,
it was easy to make
mistakes by turning
to one side and violating
the great will of the
Lord many times.
In the end, he was
the one who gave his heart
to Jesus by asking to
be hung upside down
on the cross when he
was martyred.
(Ex : 7) Elder Salt)
There was a very
wealthy salt field
business person.
And he had a nickname,
Elder Salt. He lived a life
of faith with a stubborn
sense of privilege
toward God.
Because of his nature,
the people around him
had a hard time
working with him,
and as a result,
through several
hardships and trials,
his sense of ownership
and strong self were
broken before God.
One day there was
a strong typhoon in
his town.
The next day, all the
salt in his salt farm
on the seashore was
swept away by the
waves and gone.
The wealth he had enjoyed
in return for his hard work
vainly disappeared
in a single wave
and his strong ego
was broken.
He greatly repented
of his sins and became
changed.
The problem is that
we must abandon the sense
of ownership of our
lives and change it to
the concept of God's
managership.
Why did the first man
Adam sin and fail?
It is because he acted
with the consciousness
that the owner of his life
is him, not God.
Therefore, we must
abandon the attitude
of faith that is determined
by our own will
and realize what
God's will is, and
act accordingly.
(Ex : 8) Polycarp
There is s good example
of serving God faithfully.
It is a brave man
“Polycarp” who chose
the path of martyrdom
under Roman oppression.
Just before he was burned,
when he was told that
his fame would be
considered
and he would be given
a chance for his life
to be saved if he
denies Jesus,
his last words were
impressive and important.
Polycarp said,
“I've been walking with
Jesus for decades,
so why would I deny Him?
Hurry up! Burn me quickly.
I will be willing to meet
Jesus as soon as possible!”
He was a man of faith
who cried out.
(Ex : 9) Late Kim
Hwal-ran,
President of Ewha
Women's University
It is said that many
of the people who attended
during the death of the late
President Kim Hwa-ran
were changed.
She said, "I was born
unlucky on this earth
but I did my best to live
a life without regrets
and shame while
I was living, so now
I'm willing to return
to God."
It is said that her resolute
attitude of faith changed
many of the people
who attended there.
Loving God
God is a loving one
who has compassion
and mercy toward
humans.
When we humans repent
and return to God,
it is God who makes our
blood -red sins into
white like wool.
We should not forget
that even if we forget
our nature and
make mistakes,
God has shown generosity
to those who realize
his nature and return
to Him.
We must never forget
the consciousness that
we are special beings to
worship God,
and that we are also
sinners who need
God's care.
Galatians 2 : 20 says,
" I have been crucified
with Christ and I no longer live,
but Christ lives in me.
The life I live in the body,
I live by faith in the Son of God,
who loved me and gave
himself for me."
As children of God,
while living on this earth
in the flesh,
whether in season or not,
we must follow good deeds
to resist the temptations
from the world and move
toward the will of God.
How amazing is it that
those who endure
and overcome will
have eternal life as
children of God!
Therefore, no matter what
circumstances we may
face, we must have faith,
along with expectation
and hope that the
rewards and inheritances
in eternal heaven will
await us.
Remember King
-Solomon's words.
Eccl 12 : 13-14 says,
"Now all has been heard;
here is the conclusion
of the matter:
Fear God and keep
his commandments,
for this is the whole
duty of man.
For God will bring
every deed into judgment,
including every hidden thing,
whether it is good or evil."
Therefore, first of all,
let's find our identity
as children of God
on this earth.
In addition,
let's fear God every day
and live our own
duty humbly.
Let's go further
and fulfill our mission
given for the blessings
and inheritances
we will receive
in Heaven,
our home.
Ultimately, let's become
faithful workers who
prepare for heaven,
and become children
who please God.
