Lamb For A
Burnt Offering84
[Gen 22:1-10]
/ Anne's Faith Column
/ By Priscilla
There are times
when God asks us to do
what we value the most.
We can learn a lesson
from God's will and
Abraham's mindset.
There are times when
we have to let go of
our mind about the
most precious things,
such as our children
or most inseparable
things in our lives.
These things happen
to anyone without
exception.
Sometimes I admit that
I feel pain in the conflict
of such moments,
and I ask God, like Abraham,
what this training is really for.
Abraham's attempt
to offer his son Isaac
as a burnt offering instead
of the lamb was perfect
obedience to God.
This was not partial,
but absolutely perfect
obedience.
Like the confession
of Job in the Bible
as follows,
'The LORD gave
and the LORD
has taken away',
Abraham
acknowledged God's
absolute sovereignty.
In fact, even though
we ourselves confess
that we acknowledge
the Lord's sovereignty,
when the Lord tests us
and asks us to let go of
what is most precious
to us,
there are many times
when we hesitate
to say yes.
Even in the midst
of suffering, if we
only look to God,
who is the Absolute,
God is sure to prepare
a lamb for a burnt offering'
instead of our own Isaac
and will grant us what
we have hoped for
if we pass the test.
Therefore, even though
we are in the most ridiculous
and impossible situations,
God trains us harder,
allows us to face crises,
and requires us to have
a good attitude of faith
that we trust only God
and we do not retreat
under any circumstances.
Though we can see
nothing with our eyes,
we can hear nothing
with our ears, and
we can hold nothing
with our hands,
God will grant to each
of us the strong will to
navigate toward an
unpredictable future,
if we stand firm
with faith in God.
No matter how big
or small it is, he allows
each of us to suffer
similar to Abraham’s,
and in the midst of loneliness
and darkness that we cannot
share with those closest to us,
God tells us to rely only
on Himself, the brilliant light.
Just as the dawn cannot
come until we go through
the deep silence and
dadkness,
I am very comforted at
this time today as I am
confident that we will
not be able to see
the brilliant light until
we go through deep
darkness in our lives.
So, how should we
deal with our lives?
1) Let's go through this
suffering with trust in God
who definitely provides us.
2) First, carefully examine
what my own Isaac
is in my life
and what kind of lamb
to sacrifice as a burnt
offering to God is.
And then when we realize
what these are in my life,
we must give them
completely to the Lord.
Prayer
Lord!
Lead us not to go against
your will with a lot of
compassion.
Lord!
May our will,
our human emotions,
and our intellect not be
distorted before you.
Lord!
May you always control us
so that we may not go
one step ahead of
you the Lord,
that we may not forget
the mindset we started with,
or that we may not change!
Amen
