"Adam!
Where Are You?" 56
[Gen 3:6-24]
/ Anne's Faith Column
/ By Priscilla
God punished and cursed
human beings who committed
sins and were corrupted,
and drove them out of
the 'Garden of Eden'.
After they had sinned,
their eyes were opened
and they realized that it
was a shame to be naked.
It was just then that
God called to Adam.
The first word He spoke
to him was "Adam!
Where are you?"
God knows human nature.
And He always sees through
the heart of the human.
God used to come over
to him and have a close
relationship with him.
However, Adam had the result
of severing the relationship
of fellowship between
God and man.
God's question struck him
like a sharp dagger that
cuts through his chest,
like a raging wave,
toward the abyss hidden
deep in his heart.
Nevertheless, 'Adam',
the first human that God
created with special
affection
in his image, was not
honest with God after
he sinned, but rather
slandered
and made excuses
against his spouse,
eventually leading to
accusations of each other.
Seeing their unrepentant deeds,
God finally rebuked and punished
Adam and Eve and the serpent
who tempted them to fall away.
Think carefully about the
heart of our Heavenly Father
who gave these punishments
to each one of them!
The Garden of Joy
- In the Garden of Eden,
God's children made in his
image disobeyed God
and His command
and betrayed Him!
Heavenly Father, who
must rule with strict justice,
and His children who had
fallen due to the pride
of human who wanted
to be equal with God
and disobedience....
How hard and painful
it must have been
for God to bear
and pay the price
of suffering in the midst
of His anger, pain, and
compassion!
God already knew
what kind of suffering
mankind would suffer as a
result of His judgment.
I hope you can deeply
feel the love, mercy, grace,
tolerance and love of God
who had to face them
with a broken heart
toward a sinful life.
However, God had to start
working on them, bearing
the pain and suffering.
When God called to Adam,
he heard His voice
and he was hiding from
the face of God, trembling
with shame and fear
after Adam sinned.
Let's think about Adam,
who answered, "I heard you
in the garden, and I was
afraid because I was
naked; so I hid."
How weak man is!
After Adam had sinned
by eating the forbidden fruit,
that is, eating from the tree
of the knowledge of good
and evil, sin entered him,
and soon he came to shame
himself for being naked.
Adam, the first man,
covered himself with
tree leaves to hide himself,
but the leaves dried up
in the sun.
In the end, it was not
possible to completely
cover up the human shame.
God rebuked them
and brought judgment
upon them, but in the end,
God, who was rich in mercy
and love, slaughtered animals
and clothed them with skins
before driving them out
of the garden.
(Gen 3:6-21)
What could be a greater
expression of love than this?
I guess that God, who is just
, felt heartbreaking about
the spiritual corruption of
humans who broke the law
and felt the pain of being
ripped in his heart when
he punished them.
He wants each one of us
to be treated as a person.
God, who gave human beings
free will, does not put us
into force to this time,
but leads us to realize
God's providence
in the field of our lives.
The punishments
for human sin were
as follows.
For woman, Eve,
God increased great pain
in childbearing.
And also, He made her
long for her husband,
Adam and made her lead
a life of submission to him.
And also, Adam, Eve's husband,
had to sweat and toil on his
forehead for surviving.
Therefore, they must have felt
more earnestly how precious
the glory they enjoyed freely
by God's grace was while
cultivating the land
and toiling in the
Garden of Eden,
Even in a dark situation
where we have to fight against
the temptations of the forces
of endless darkness
while living our faith,
God gives us the courage
to overcome and the strength
to fight against them.
Today, God is teaching
and revealing us,
His children, through
the Word, and guides us
into the life God wants
us to live every day.
God sent His one
and only Son, Jesus Christ,
to this earth as the Son of
reconciliation,
and as a sin offering for us
in order to atone for our sins
caused by Adam's transgression.
For all of us who have
accepted Jesus Christ
as the Savior of our souls,
God wants us to be
more filled with the
Holy Spirit
and faithful to our prayers
in order to have constant
conversations with our
Heavenly Father.
Also, even though
we have restored our
relationship with God
by believing in Jesus Christ,
God Himself comes to us
without change and speaks
to our hearts as follows:
"Where are you now?'
God asks us like this, and
touches and checks
our hearts.
Now, what should we do
first to build a closer
relationship with
our Father?
1) After committing a sin,
when God calls us to repent
in the light of the Word,
we must not impute
our sins to others.
If there is something
that bothers you, you
must immediately kneel
before God and repent
thoroughly.
2) We must become children
who remember God's love
and do not forget grace
and benefits.
3) When God asks me where I am,
- what 'the current state
of my faith' like is,
I must pray to the Holy Spirit
in order to become
a faithful child who can
answer His voice.
Prayer
Lord!
My eyes are ever on you!
When you seek and call me,
please help each of us
to be able to answer
immediately,
"Lord. Here I am,"
Grant me to become
God's child who depends
more on you and
follow you purely!
Amen
