Garden Of Eden
/ Origin Of Joy 55
[Gen 2:1-14]
/ Anne's Faith Column
/ By Priscilla
After creating humans,
God rested on the seventh day
and He provided the
'Garden of Eden' for
humans.
The Bible says that
taking one day off a week
is 'the resting of creation'.
However, there are times
when we get ahead
of the Holy Spirit
and our life is a series
of exhaustion without
any rest.
Even though we feel close
to God the Holy Spirit,
we often lead a busy life,
while leaving God the
Holy Spirit at the entrance
of the door
or in the opposite room,
and take actions based
upon humanism.
God breathed life into
a human being, carried
out the work of creation,
and finally rested on
the seventh day.
Yet, after accepting the Lord,
how many times we have
chosen to live a busy life
in which we cannot
even find any rest
in our daily lives,
even though we are
children of God!
I feel strongly how
difficult it is to control
myself without depending
on the Holy Spirit.
Living life without the help
of the Holy Spirit is nothing more
than a life of repeating failures.
That is why we need to ask for
the wisdom of the Lord even more.
What we, who are made
in the image of God, have to
to do is to keep the Sabbath,
which is the 7th day after
creation,
holy, thinking about all
the creative tasks that
God has made for our lives
in the Garden of Eden.
And we are simply
resting our minds
and bodies so that
we thank God for His grace
and fully rest the day
with the Lord.
Just like if you keep the bow
loaded all day long, it will
take more energy when
you actually want to
shoot the bow,
if our body and mind
are always in a tension,
we cannot fully utilize
our energy when we want
to use our strength.
Therefore, we must remember
that we must prepare
our minds enough to carry on
bigger things in order to live
a hopeful life on this earth
according to the mission that
the Lord wants us to do in faith.
Then what should we do?
1) We must never go ahead
of the Holy Spirit.
We need to be free from
the burdens of everyday life.
So we must not neglect
the life of following the
Word and instructions
of the Lord all the time.
2) Thinking of God's love
for human history
and the help of God
the Holy Spirit,
we must give thanks
for God's will for humans
that was prepared in
the Garden of Eden.
So we will have to constantly
ask the Lord while living on
this earth so that we can
understand God's will properly.
3) When we are promoted
to divine lives according to
God's providence rather
than human lives
according to our
own thoughts,
finally, as Paul says,
we will live exalted
and noble lives.
Then, what attitude
should we take toward
God's infinite love for us?
(1) We must always remember
the love of God, who gave
humans the 'Garden of Eden',
a source of joy and a hotbed
of milk and honey.
Therefore, as creatures,
human beings, what we
have to do is,
as King Solomon said, that
"living in the fear of God is
the fundamental human duty."
(Pro 31:30)
2) We must strive to know
more about the heart
of the Father who allowed
the Garden of Eden,
walk with the Holy Spirit,
and live in harmony with
the Lord so that we can
rest with peace of mind.
Prayer
Lord!
Grant us a spiritual fruit
to re-establish the
Garden of Eden,
the source of joy, and
give us rest in You!
The more I get to know
the deep love of the Lord,
the more I realize that
the eternal resting place
is in the arms of the Lord.
In the midst
of the harsh world,
lead us to take rest
in the arms of the Lord,
the eternal resting place,
and to deal with the
present and the future!
Amen.
