of Babylon!

Listening to the songs

of The Melodians

makes me feel the

sorrows of Hebrews

in the Old Testament!

 

 

 

In Psalm 126,

we can see that the Israelites

came back from captivity

 

 

 

and were moved to

praise the Almighty

while going up to

the temple.

 

 

 

I'm thinking of their

endless joy of being

so moved to tears by

the Babylonian river.

(Psalm 126 1-5)

 

 

 

"When the LORD

brought back the

captives to Zion,

 

 

 

we were like men

who dreamed.

 

 

 

Our mouths were

filled with laughter,

our tongues with

songs of joy.

 

 

 

Then it was said

among the nations,

"The LORD has done

great things for them."

 

 

 

The LORD has done

great things for us,

and we are filled with joy.

 

 

 

Restore our fortunes,

O LORD, like streams

in the Negev.

 

 

 

Those who sow in tears

will reap with songs of joy.

 

 

 

He who goes out weeping,

carrying seed to sow,

will return with songs of joy,

carrying sheaves with him."

 

 

 

When the Spirit of

the Lord is on us,

the very joy will come

to each one of us as well: 

 

 

 

The prisoners will be free,

and the oppressed

will be released. 

 

 

 

And those who are

blind to the environment

will open their eyes

of the spirit, 

 

 

 

those who are spiritual

deaf will hear the

precious and profound

Word of God, 

 

 

 

and those whose hearts

are hardened and

dull will be plowed

and softened by the

work of the Holy Spirit.

 

 

 

Come, Holy Spirit!

Tear this land apart

and come! 

 

 

 

With the grace

of the Lord, grant us

the day when the captivity

from all circumstances

 

 

 

that oppress us

will be released!

 

 

 

Please guide each

one of us into the

light of Jesus Christ,

from dark to bright!
