You Will Reap What

You Sow108

[Hos 8:1-7]

 / Anne's Faith Column

/ By Priscilla

It is written in today's scripture

that God will never deliver them

from the hands of their enemies,

because even though the Israelites

who rebelled against God's law

acknowledge God, they already

lost the standard of what  was good.

At the request of their people,

they set up kings and princes.

However, today's scripture

foretells that they will eventually

be destroyed because they

made idols for themselves.

"They sow the wind and

reap the whirlwind.

[Hosea 8:7]

It warns that his people

who betrayed God will sooner

or later be taken captive by the

Gentiles as punishment

for their deeds.

The Israelites ignored

God's Word for a long time.

Because, they broke God's

covenant and rebelled against

His law and committed

idolatry and injustice,

they couldn't avoid

punishment for their sins.

Even if they repented and

turned away from their sins,

it would be too late, and

they would be forsaken.

Our relationship with

God is so important to us.

Therefore, we should be

the ones who always feel

God's presence.

There are those who can

not accept and wonder at

the failure that is the

result of sin

In order not to live a life

of failure, we must always

keep God at the cente

of our hearts.

We should recognize that

worldly things, idolatrous things,

envy, and hatred stand in the

way between God and us,

and we need wisdom to

eradicate them.

We must also know that

if there is a cause, there must

 be an effect that follows.

If we sow good, we will

reap good; if we sow evil,

we will reap evil.

Recognizing that sin causes

ruin and loss of all that we

 own, we must defeat sin.

Then what should we do?

1) We must ask God to break

down the idols in our hearts.

2) We must commune with God

more through prayer and must

sow good in our lives.

Prayer

Lord!  Thank you.

Only in my heart may the Lord

be enthroned and rule over me!

Let me sow good and reap good

every day with a sincere heart!

Amen
