Human  Arrogance 67

(Language Confusion)

[Gen 11:1-26]

/ Anne's Faith Column

/  By Priscilla

When humans tried

to exalt their names,

God finally confused

their language

and scattered them over

the face of the whole earth.

Originally, the whole world

had one language and

a common speech.

However, they planned

to make a name for

themselves before God

with spiritual pride to

avoid being scattered

all over the world,

but on the contrary,

they ended up being

scattered over the

whole land along with

   a confusion of language.

When God saw all that

the humans did,

we can imagine how

abominable the

humans' behaviors

must have been to Him

and how outraged He

must have been.

Looking back on our

own behaviors,

we can see

how abominable we

were being before God

even though we said we

would not be arrogant!

We, the children of God,

often reveal ourselves

or put our own righteousness

ahead of God with a

humanistic way of thinking.

We, who have a sinful nature,

pretend to be holy for

our own justification,

try to hide our shame,

and do not try to admit

our faults and mistakes.

Also, most of our decisions

are made on our own

without asking God.

We say we follow

the Lord with our lips,

but our behaviors

are contradictory.

We often feel embarrassed

and ashamed of ourselves

by not following order,

violating the rights of

others at our own will,

 and acting emotionally.

In the end, we feel

that we are not good

enough to manage

the incidental self-pity,

lamentation, skepticism,

and intense emotions,

and we come to ask for

the help of God the

Holy Spirit.

What should we

do in this situation?

1) We must control our

thoughts of being

ahead of God.

2) God is our master,

and we must act

humbly before God.

3) We must surrender

our decision-making

authority to God.

Prayer

Lord

Restore me from

self-pity!

Amen
