Noah's Sons 66

[Gen 9:18-10:32]

/ Anne's Faith Column

/  By Priscilla

Noah's sons were Ham,

Shem, and Japheth.

Among them, ‘Ham’,

the father of Canaan,

was the youngest,

and one day

he saw his father’s

nakedness and did not

keep it in his heart,

and he exposed his

father's shame by telling

the other two brothers.

After waking up,

Noah cursed 'Canaan'

among them.

This is because Ham,

the father of Canaan,

did not hide the naked

  shame of his father Noah.

What set him apart from

his other brothers was

that he looked straight

ahead at his father, who

was drunk and naked.

If you saw the fault

and shame of your father,

it would be natural

to hide the shame.

However,

he was so rude.

When the two elder brothers

heard the words of the

youngest, they were

startled

and walked in backward

to cover the lower

body of their father,

Noah, who was

sleeping deeply.

In the end,

when Noah awoke

from his wine

and found out what

his youngest son

had done to him,

he cursed Ham.

When Noah woke up, he

cursed Ham and prophesied

that Ham would become

 the slave of his elder

brother Shem,

but Noah's drunken

 behavior is also not

desirable.

As a result,

the descendants of Canaan

suffered the misery of

becoming slaves because

of Ham's bad temper.

From this part

we learn a lesson.

In the genealogy of Shem,

Eber is a descendant of Shem,

and God was planning

the birth of the Messiah.

We can realize the special

relationship between

God and His chosen people

among the many races.

God is so good, and

He chose the least of

many people of the world

to shame the great.

How should we,

who came to know

the Lord first, receive

 God's calling, and act?

After receiving God's grace,

we need to look back

at ourselves again to see

if we  sometimes do such

a rash act like 'Ham'

in front of our brothers

and sisters of faith.

Sometimes,

even when seniors

of faith make shameful

mistakes, we should

not expose them

and aggravate them,

but we should try to

cover up their faults

and shame.

Because it is written

in the Scriptures

that 'If you think you

are standing firm,

be careful that

you don't fall!

We should not be arrogant

keep this in mind and

live humbly.

Then how should we

have our attitude of faith?.

1) We must stop having

thoughtless words before God.

2) We should be self-control

about our behaviors

and humble, realizing

what the will of the Lord

is, and obeying God.

3) We must always keep

watch and pray so that

we can become true

believers who care for

and put up with

each other and cover

each other's faults.

4) We should pray to

have more generous

and easy personalities

by putting odd

and harsh parts of

our character up

before the Lord.

Therefore, let us ask

more of the personal

Holy Spirit for this.

Prayer

Lord!

Lead us to look to

the Lord in silence and

  be humble always.

For the future runners,

as a person who first believed

in the Lord, let me always

imitate 'Shem'.

Also, please be a person

who is always spiritually

awake so that I can become

a model for good believers.
